How RFID Works for Logistics & Supply Chain

At its core, RFID technology is simple: A tag carries a small amount of identity data, which is transmitted when a handheld or static reader comes within a designated range. Coupled with specialized software, this lets users “find the one and count the many,” immediately knowing where a specific part or parcel is, noting whether something has entered a facility, flagging that a specific product is under recall or at end of life, or any number of other use cases.
